On March 13th the Netball Victoria Waverly class participated in their regional basketball SEPEP day. The girls participated in a basketball clinic and then proved very competitive in the round robin competition. A big thank you to the Nunawading basketball group for leading the day, well done!

On Tuesday the 12th of March the Netball Waverley class participated in the along with all SEDA netball students. The girls were given an overview of Netball Victoria’s role and how they as coach’s can assist in ‘enriching young girls lives through the sport of netball’. The girls listened to Geva Mentor from Melbourne Vixon’s tell her story and then participated in a serious of clinic stations to further develop them as coach’s. A highly enjoyable day had by all!

On Thursday the 7th of March, the Richmond Netball Victoria class conducted their very first clinic at Balwyn Primary School. All students did a fantastic job of transferring the new skills they had learnt at their Foundation Coaching Course to the sessions run. Although the weather was extremely warm, the SEDA students managed to engage the Primary School students for the whole day. An excellent effort by all involved!

On Friday the 8th of March all new students to the Waverley Netball Victoria group completed their Level One umpiring Course. Cathy Gallop from Netball Victoria ran them through the rules of the game and conducted practical sessions on umpiring requirements. The girls are now ready to enter the primary schools and start passing their knowledge on to students during netball clinics.

On Thursday March 7, the Ascot Vale returning students ventured out to St Francis De Sales Primary School in Oak Park to run our first official clinic for 2013. The girls worked from 9am-3pm teaching netball skills, drills and activities to students in grade prep – grade 4. Skills taught to students included: passing, footwork and fitness, with the girls focussing on ball handling activities and games with the preppies. Next week, our whole class will be attending the school to further enhance students knowledge and understanding of the game of netball!

On Tuesday March 5th and Thursday March 7, the new Ascot Vale Netball students completed their Foundation Netball Coaching Course and their Level 1 Umpiring Courses with Netball Victoria. Both courses combined practical experiences with theoretical elements with the girls presenting coaching sessions to the class, and also umpiring while the class played netball. Even though both days were incredibly hot, the girls worked tirelessly and are now ready to tackle our first full class primary school clinic next week!

On Monday March 4th, the Ascot Vale Netball class participated in a Les Mills RPM session at Genesis Gym in Maidstone. The session formed part of the students assessment in their Fitness UCO. The class was both challenging and fun, with the girls gaining increased understanding of fitness components and body systems throughout the 50 minute program!

On Wednesday 27th February, the Ascot Vale netball girls travelled to Richmond for the second round of the metro netball round robin competition. The second year students organised a training session for all participants before the competition began, with Ascot Vale winning all matches played. The competition ran really well, with students from both classes taking on ALL roles throughout the day. Ascot Vale will be up against Waverley next… Stay tuned for all results …

On Monday 25th of February all new students to SEDA Netball completed a Beginners Coaching Course at Jells Park. Karen Worland from Netball Victoria spent the day teaching the girls the coaching fundamentals, which lead them into several peer teaching activities.

On Wednesday the 13th of February, Netball Waverley joined forces with Netball Richmond to watch Melbourne Football Club run through the paces at their pre-match training session. The girls had an opportunity to interview Midfield Coach Aaron Greaves and discuss the challenges and highlights of his coaching career.
