FITNESS

Course: SIS30315 Certificate III in Fitness
Intake: Direct entry intake in January 2017
Course Description: This qualification is designed for individuals who have an interest in commencing a career in the fitness industry.
Duration: This qualification is facilitated over 23 weeks from January to July 2017. Training will be delivered face to face 9:00am – 4pm 1 day per week between Monday and Friday during the school term and 5 days per week for the first week of term 1 and term 2 school holidays.
Selection Process: Apply directly to SEDA Group
Eligibility: Individuals who completed year 12 in 2016.
Career Opportunities After successful completion of the SIS30315 Certificate III in Fitness, students may obtain employment as a Gym Instructor.
Further Study Options: Students may use this qualification as a pathway to continue and complete the SIS40215 Certificate IV in Fitness. This may be undertaken with either SEDA Group (subject to extension to scope approval) or with an external provider.

FIRST AID/CPR

Course: HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
Intake: Direct Entry / Rolling enrolments
Course Description: This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines. This unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide CPR, in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
Duration: 5 hours which include online and face to face training and assessment
Selection Process: Apply online
Eligibility: There are no pre-requisites to undertake this course however individuals that have a disability, impairment, or other condition are asked to contact the Training Manager at SEDA Group to discuss the likelihood of completing this course.
Career Opportunities: By the completion of this unit, students will be able to:
– Respond to emergency situations
– Perform CPR procedures according to ARC guidelines
– Record and communicate details of emergency incidents
Further Study Options: Students may decide to undertake further study in first aid with SEDA Group.
Pre-Requisites: None.
Course: HLTAID003 Provide First Aid
Intake: Direct entry / Rolling enrolments
Course Description: This unit develops the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty. The unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
Duration: 20 hours which include online and face to face training and assessment

Eligibility: There are no pre-requisites to undertake this course however individuals that have a disability, impairment, or other condition are asked to contact the Training Manager at SEDA Group to discuss the likelihood of completing this course.
Career Opportunities: By the completion of this unit, students will be able to:

GOLF PERFORMANCE PROGRAM

Course SIS50612 Diploma of Sport Development
Intake PGA International Golf Institute Golf Performance Program students – Direct Entry / January Intake only
Course Description SEDA Group offer the SIS50612 Diploma of Sport Development qualification as the Vocational Education and Training (VET) component of the Golf Performance Program. This program is a joint initiative between the PGA International Golf Institute (RTO provider Number: 31270) and SEDA Group, based at the PGA Centre for Learning and Performance at the Sandhurst Club in Victoria.  It is designed for students with a strong interest in a career in the golf industry. Students will develop the knowledge and skills to plan, organise and manage a range of programs and services in a golf specific context.
Duration The VET component of the Golf Performance Program is facilitated over 39 weeks commencing from February 2016 to December 2016. Training will be delivered for 3 days per week between Monday and Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm.
Selection Process Apply directly to the PGA International Golf Institute
Eligibility To be eligible individuals must be registered in the PGA International Golf Institute’s Golf Performance Program
Career Opportunities After successful completion of the SIS50612 Diploma of Sport Development, students may obtain employment in the golf industry as one of the following:
·      Pro Shop Assistant or Manager
·      Program Manager
·      Tournament Official
·      Coach
·      Sport Development Officer
Further Study Options Students may use this qualification as a pathway to the PGA Traineeship Program or an undergraduate degree/course such as exercise science or sports management. SEDA Group has partnerships with a number of tertiary partners, who offer Diploma graduates entry into nominated undergraduate courses subject to meeting eligibility requirements.
Pre-Requisites The unit – SISSSCO101 Develop and update knowledge of coaching practices must be successfully completed and assessed prior to commencement of SISSSCO303 Plan and deliver coaching programs.

Course Description This qualification is designed for Year 11 students who have an interest in community activity, sport and recreation programs and want to commence a career or pathway in the community or recreation industry.
Duration Training will be delivered face to face 9:00am – 3:00pm 1 day per week.
Selection Process Apply directly to SEDA College (Victoria) or MacKillop Catholic Regional College
Eligibility To be eligible, individuals must have successfully completed Year 10 in 2016.
Career Opportunities After successful completion of the SIS20115 Certificate II in Sport and Recreation, students may obtain employment in the following occupation:

  • Community activities assistant
  • Customer service assistant
  • Leisure assistant
  • Recreation assistant
  • Coaches and umpires in local level sport
  • Grounds assistant
  • Facility assistant
Further Study Options Students may use this qualification as a pathway to continue and complete the SIS30115 Certificate III in Sport and Recreation, the SIS40115 Certificate IV in Sport and Recreation through an alternative registered training organisation or pathway to the SIS50612 Diploma of Sport Development through SEDA Group.

Course SIS30115 Certificate III in Sport and Recreation
Intake SEDA Group On-campus Year 12 for SEDA College (Victoria) and MacKillop Catholic Regional College students – Direct Entry / February Intake only
Course Description This qualification is designed for Year 12 students who have an interest in community activity, sport and recreation programs and want to commence a career or pathway in the community or recreation industry.
Duration Training will be delivered face to face 9:00am – 3:00pm 1 day per week. In addition, a ten week supervised workplace training period will run for 1 day per week.
Selection Process Apply directly to SEDA College (Victoria) or MacKillop Catholic Regional College
Eligibility To be eligible, individuals must have successfully completed Year 11 in 2016.
Career Opportunities Career Opportunities: After successful completion of the SIS30115 Certificate III in Sport and Recreation, students may obtain employment in the following occupation:
